Name:  Kari Djuve

Bio:  Kari met her first yoga teacher Diane Wilson in 1999 when she was living in Portland, OR.  Diane’s brilliant presence as a yogi, and her passionate teaching of yoga as a lifestyle inspired Kari to restructure her life, bringing yoga and yoga philosophy to the center.  After a few years of intensive study with Diane, Kari began teaching yoga and has been committed to sharing yoga with others for 15 years now.  Kari’s journey as a yogi has taken her to many wonderful places including France, where she completed a month-long residential teacher training at the Sivananda ashram in Neuville Aux Bois(2008), and studied with master Vinyasa teacher Gerard Arnaud for 6 months when she and her husband lived briefly in Paris (2009).  Arnaud’s fluid sequencing paired with precise breath technique greatly influenced Kari’s approach to teaching.  Most recently, Kari had the opportunity to study with longtime teachers Kathy Hallen and Fran Slavich at their beautiful yoga shala in Durham, NC while her family was on a 10-month sabbatical.  Kari is immensely grateful for the lessons that Kathy and Fran taught her about Ashtanga yoga, the subtle magic of a yogic breathing system, and the importance of developing a meditator’s mind and maintaining a heart-centered practice.  Kari has a background in Psychology and Fine arts and loves to find new ways of seeing things, whether in her paintings or in her yoga practice.  Her creative, challenging, playful classes reflect her love for yoga and the diverse perspectives of all the wonderful teachers that have helped her along the road of her yogic journey.
