KASA Yoga and Wellness

My mission as a Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner, is to teach and empower people to take control of their health with a holistic approach based on the ancient practices of Ayurveda, Yoga and Meditation. On this journey we will travel together in the spirit of awareness, balance and transformation for optimum health and fulfillment.

Ayurveda, translated as "The Knowledge of Life,"  is a holistic approach to health and wellness for the mind, body and spirit. It takes into consideration the wholeness of an individual and uses five sense treatments, including diet, herbs, mantras, meditation, yoga, aromatherapy, massage, colors, music, cleanses, and other therapeutic lifestyle changes to maintain wellness, prevent illness, and restore health.

Ayurveda has a focus on the root cause of your health imbalance by understanding your unique dosha. As a practitioner, we look to restore balance and harmony to the mind, body and spirit, thus avoiding the onset of symptoms. If you are already ill, Ayurvedic lifestyle changes can help you create the optimum environment in your body for healing to take place. With awareness around taking personal responsibility towards your health, Ayurveda can help you feel better about life and have greater energy and enthusiasm.

I am so thankful I signed up for Ayurvedic counseling with Kathy.  When I first started the consultations, I was quite reluctant to make the changes Kathy recommended each week, but she was understanding of my resistance to change, and gently allowed me to decide when and how to adjust my habits.  It was really only after the consultations ended that I realized I was starting to see the bigger picture, willing to give up the rigid standards I had always attempted to live by.  The most significant advancement I have made has been how food has taken a backseat to other activities in my life.  Over time, I have noticed that incorporating the Ayurvedic principles related to cooking and eating I learned about from Kathy has eliminated the mental battles I have always had with myself about eating choices and daily routines.  I was also expecting perfection from myself, and then beating myself up when I was not perfect.  This attitude has faded away without me even realizing it was going, without expecting this outcome.  Adding so many spices and herbs to my meals has taken my cooking to a whole new level.  I also now cherish my tea times, which allow me to slow down and examine my day.  Deep breaths before eating connect me to my food and to my emotions, and leave me feeling satisfied and nourished, instead of always wanting more.  I am still working to naturally incorporate everything I have learned into my life, because I realize that small changes can add even more contentment and peace into my mind and life. - Jill
