Sandra’s bowls are made by a family clan whose work can be traced back to the time of the Buddha.  Sandra trained several years in the Shuniya tradition which honors the ancient foundation of sound healing created by Master Tibetan and Nepalese practitioners. Please arrive promptly and bring your own yoga mat.  Sandra will be doing a short presentation about the history, science and tradition of this healing practice.  You will be in a resting position, laying down or sitting, for approximately 60 minutes to allow for a deep level of relaxation.  At the end, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and share your experiences with the practitioner.

As humans, we all deal with ambiguity on a daily basis; most days in fact start and end with uncertainty. Urban Zen Integrative Therapy is about self-care on a daily basis, not just when you are feeling unstable.

Join Alissa Jackson for an Urban Zen Integrative Therapy Session on Embracing Uncertainty where she will offer tools for dailylife that will leave you feeling secure, stable and able to welcome uncertainty.

Urban Zen Integrative Therapy Workshop for Caregivers

Teacher:  Lori Moffett
Time:  4:00 – 6:00 PM
Date:  Saturday, November 10, 2018
Fee:  $40

Pre-registration is requested by Monday, November 5, 2018.

Description:  How can we reduce stress and burnout from caring for our loved one? Are there tools that can be learned when you are feeling overwhelmed, irritable, angry, or sad? Do you have moments when your mother with Alzheimer’s disease has asked the same doggone question all day long, you know she can’t help it, but it is trying your last nerve.

What do you do?
Scream (sometimes), cry (sometimes), or run (wishful thinking)? Is there a better way to respond?

The answer is YES.

In Urban Zen Integrative Therapy, we teach family caregivers to pause before reacting. How? By noticing sensations in the body or observing the breath. Slowing down enough to mom’s constant questions and figuring out how to respond with compassion.

What is UZIT?
Urban Zen Integrative Therapy (UZIT) is a layering of relaxation techniques that includes: Mindful Movement, Restorative Yoga, Meditation, Reiki, and Essential Oils to reduce stress in daily life. In this two-hour UZIT workshop we will address: anxiety, insomnia, and exhaustion; caregivers will walk away feeling renewed, refreshed, and recharged plus walk with tools that they can use in their daily life. No yoga experience necessary. Please dress in layers for warmth and comfort.

Lori Guth Moffett is a certified Yoga Teacher and Reiki Master, Director of the UZIT Program at Zusman Hospice, and UZIT Master Teacher. Since 2013 Lori has sat at the bedside of the dying; she believes bearing witness is the heart and soul of the UZIT practice and her best teachers are those who are in that bed taking their last breath. The only way Lori is able to do work at the bedside of the dying is caring deeply for her mind, body, and spirit; by spending time with people and animals she loves, the UZIT practice, being in nature, working out, signing and volunteering with Harmony Project Choir, and attending Friday night Shabbat Services at Temple Israel.
